Saskatchewan man forced to mow his ‘natural’ lawn that has ‘gotten out of hand’

Resident claims what he planted doesn't violate existing bylaws

August 24, 2023  By Turf & Rec

A Battleford, Sask. man has been given until the end of the month to mow his lawn which has been described as unsightly and is in violation with the town’s nuisance abatement bylaw.

The resident says he planted natural grasses on his property and claims he did so without contravening existing bylaws.

Although the resident says his property is grown to a natural garden, those investigating complaints from neighbours say it’s “gotten out of hand” and “looks awful.”

The property owner has until Aug. 31 to mow his lawn or else faces the cost of municipal staff doing the job.
